Run the Rhenoster

Once a year, the borders of the Crocodile River Reserve open to the public for a truly special eventRun the Rhenoster, a scenic trail run or walk through one of Gautengs last remaining Egoli Granite Grasslands, just 20 minutes from Fourways. This one-day event takes participants along carefully curated routes on the western side of the reserve, winding through single-track trails, quiet district roads, and along the peaceful Small Crocodile River. Along the way, youll encounter some of the reserves most iconic natural and historic landmarksfrom the geological wonder of the Black Reef Formation to the tranquil heights of Koppie Alleen, the sweeping views from Rhenosterkop, and the reflective beauty of the Rhenosterspruit Dam. Youll also pass through Brooklands, an area rich in agricultural history, and wetlands teeming with biodiversity. Each route5km or 12kmfeatures several interpretive stops where expert guides will share fascinating stories about the land, its ecology, and its deep heritage. This is more than a trail runits an immersive journey through time, nature, and conservation.
